The motto is an archetype. The house is understood as a family residence, which in the steep slope above the Špindlerův Mlýn basin connects tradition with the present. The geometry of the triangle and circle creates a clear character of the house and opens up wide views of the landscape.
An eye to the landscape
The client’s interest is to establish an ancestral residence in an exceptional location that will last for more than one generation. The limited plot sets clear rules, so the mass is designed vertically on three levels. The ground floor made of stone masonry forms a solid plinth, anchoring the house to the ground and supporting the facilities. The main living floor is the heart of the parents’ family life, has a transparent perimeter and offers full-width views of the Spindleruv Mlyn. The loft level is designed as a separate area for children, grandchildren and guests to make the house function naturally for winter and summer gatherings of the whole family.
"Traditional motifs with a modern interpretation."
The mature trees have been preserved and their crowns now provide natural shade for seating. New shrubs and perennials have been planted among them, adding colour to the park and changing with each season. The litter bins and information signs have a uniform design emphasising the circle motif and a dark grey colour that contrasts with the vibrant greenery. The surface of the chosen zones is soft and safe, yet resistant to weather and frequent use. The new landscaping gently sculpts the terrain, encouraging natural water drainage and allowing for the creation of small play areas and relaxation corners. The whole park looks compact and organised, while remaining open to spontaneous play and unplanned gatherings.
